Essay on Recidivism Prison and Correctional Education

ABSTRACT As a result of tough on crime policies and the subsequent war on drugs, the number of individuals involved with criminal justice system continues to rise at alarming rates. Since 1980, the incarceration rate has tripled. 1 in 20 Americans will spend time in prison during their lifespan. The numbers speaks for themselves. Currently there are an estimated 2 million people in U.S. federal and state prisons. Given the unprecedented rise of individuals now involved with the American criminal justice system and the soaring rates or recidivism, there is a great need for systemic changes to address the issues confronting the ex-offender populations in this country. RESEARCH PROPOSAL TOPIC: WHY IS THERE SUCH A HIGH RATE OF†¦show more content†¦It has been noted that access to living wage employment is one of the key factors in reducing recidivism among ex-offenders. Therefore, it is critical to assist these individuals in finding employment as soon as possible upon their release from prison. RESEARCH QUESTION Why is there such a high rate of recidivism among African Americans? I based my research question on the following: 1. The organismic theory in psychology is based on the idea that the individual is composed of elements making up a system, and that one element cannot be separated from its system in order to study it. Two of the organismic theorists have developed theories to understand humans’ psychological developments through their needs: Abraham Maslow, with his hierarchy of needs theory; and Henry Murray, and his psychogenic needs theory. They both focused on developing their theories to understand human personality and its development. The people undertaking a profession for rendering personalised services are known as professionals and are guided by code of conduct provided by the respective bodies (Singh, 2015). Often the lines between profession and occupation are blurred and thin. There is a need for specialized knowledge and extensive training under profession; though, there are no such requirements under occupation. So, the individuals indulged in occupation are not required to have a specialized knowledge of their trade. There is no code of conduct under occupation but the same is present under profession. The training under the former is not necessary but is obligatory under the latter. Occupation is not regulated by statute but the profession is (Singh, 2015). The basis of pay in occupation is production whilst in profession is knowledge and skill. There is no degree of independence in occupation whilst the professionals are totally independent. Per se, there are no responsibilities in occupation and the status or respect level is low; whilst the professionals have responsibilities and have high respect and status (Olivia, 2012). The examples of people indulged in occupation include d rivers, accountants, clerks, government servant and shopkeepers. The examples of people indulged in profession include doctors, chartered accountant, engineers and lawyers (Singh, 2015). There are different players who get involved in the construction projects. These include architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, construction project managers and contractors, also known as builder. Some of these are indulged in profession, whilst the others are indulged in occupation (Birchall Ramus, 2007). When it comes to architects, they are deemed as professionals. This is because the work of architects is to plan, design and review the construction of buildings. They require specialized knowledge for undertaking their work. When it comes to engineers, they are also deemed as professionals, as they are the people who invent, analyse, building and testing machines, materials, structures and systems, and also in designing them to fulfil the requirements, based on needs of the client, keeping in mind the costs, safety, practicality and regulations (Sido, 2006). The quantity surveyors are the individuals in construction industry and are deemed as professionals with expert knowledge on construction contracts and costs. They are highly qualified members of profession and they play an indispensable role in the construction, building and in the allied industries like mining (Go Study, 2018). They have to follow the code of professional bodies and also keep in mind the applicable laws. Construction project managers are also professionals as in order to manage the construction projects, there is a need for skill and knowledge base (Study, 2018). The last category, which is of contractors or builders, is one which is categorized under occupation. This is because the builders are just required to work on the instructions provided by the professionals and have to take up the building work of the construction site. The Code of Conduct given by NZIQS i.e. New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors presents the behaviour, principles and values which are expected of members of NZIQS. The key goal of this code is to make certain that the members of NZIQS observe high standards of corporate and individual behaviour (Mbachu, 2015). This code also brings forth the minimum standard of conduct which is to be followed by the members. When there is a contravention of this code, the members of NZIQS can be disciplined based on the complaints and disciplinary procedure given by NZIQS. This code does not cover every type of the unprofessional conduct in a specific manner; and for the portions which have not been covered, the code can be used to discipline the members, based on the specific situations (NZIQS, 2017). The code of conduct of the NZIQS gives effective rules and provisions, which are meant to ensure that the quantity surveyors in NZ follow proper standards in undertaking their work. The general standards of conduct are given through this code, which have to be followed by the members of the institute. The Constitution and Rules of the code dictate the manner in which the members not following the code would be disciplined (NZIQS, 2013a). This code is applicable on all members in a collective and individual manner. Where the partner of member, or their employees, fellow directors or ones acting on their behalf breach this code, with the prior knowledge or involvement of member, the member would be deemed to have contravened this code. This code requires the professionals to be honest and fair, to give advice to professional standards, of not injuring the professional reputation of any person, not lying about qualifications, avoiding conflict of interest, refraining from making false s tatements, being accurate, maintaining confidentiality and advertising dignity of profession (NZIQS, 2018). The NZIQS Conditions of Engagement are the conditions of engagement which are recommended for procuring and for providing the professional consultation services. The reasons for developing these are for applying these to the scope of services which the members of NZIQS provide when they act in consulting role. The members of NZIQS are qualified to act in consulting roles and these conditions of engagement are to be used by the members to attain better practices in making certain that their commissions are legally and properly confirmed in writing. This particular document can be used as a standalone document which covers the agreement undertaken between quality surveyor and client for providing the professional consulting services; as being a point of reference for incorporating in established practice and in specialised practice in terms of short form agreement; and also as a document which amplifies the requirements in order to match the specific commission by making use of the spe cial conditions (NZIQS, 2013b). The rules of engagement provide details on the provisions regarding liability and insurance. In such cases where the quantity surveyor contravenes the drawn agreement between them and the client, the quantity surveyor is liable for the reasonably foreseeable losses, expenses, liabilities, damages and claims to the client, which had been caused due to a direct result of the contravention. There is no liability of the quantity surveyor to the client where the loss is consequential or special loss, caused indirectly, which is raised under the tort, contract or in other manner. The quantity surveyors have the maximum liability regarding damages, claims, losses, expenses, and liabilities which had to be five times the value of fees where the maximum limit is of $NZ 250,000 (NZIQS, 2013b). The code also requires a duty of care to be deployed when the services are provided by the quantity surveyors, where they have to make use of the reasonable care, skill and diligence which is normally expected from any competent professional. They have to abide by the standards while carrying on their work, which is expected from the quantity surveyors. They have to carry out the work with high standards which are expected from the quantity surveyor professionals. Further, the quantity surveyors are required to follow the orders, policies and standards published by NZIQS. Furthermore, the quantity surveyors are required to give advice which is in full accordance with the normal professional standards. When it comes to the matters of accuracy due to the reputation of profession being dependent on good faith and accuracy, there is a requirement for the quantity surveyors to follow the highest standards of professional competency. Thus, through the NZIQS code of engagement, the quantity surveyors are expected to take care and follow the best standards to undertake their professional obligations. Where this is not done, the quantity surveyors would have to bear the professional liabilities, for which they may have to bear a liability of five times the fee or up to the maximum limit (NZIQS, 2013b). Continued Professional Development or CPD refers to the process through which the skills, knowledge and experiences are tracked and documents which a person gains in both formal and informal manner as the person works, which is beyond their initial training. CPD basically records the experiences and learning and then assists in their application (Allen, 2009). It is a planned, lifelong and constant process which helps the professionals in developing their qualities and also in improving their skill set resulting in their empowerment, improving agency and developing the organizations (Padwad Dixit, 2011). It is significant as CPD helps in making certain that the individual is competent in the profession, and it is a process which has to be undertaken across the career of the professionals (Kloosterman, 2013). The key goal of a properly planned CAD is to safeguard the public, employer, professionals and the career of such professionals. CPD ensures that the individual has the capabilities which are up-to-date based on present standards. It makes certain that the skills and knowledge are maintained and enhanced helping in delivering the professional services to the clients. It also allows for meaning contributions to be made at the workplace and in staying interested. CPD also allows for deeper understanding on being a professional and brings a greater appreciation of the impact of work done. And depending upon the particular profession, it also allows for improved protection, environment, economy, property, sustainability and quality of life (Kloosterman, 2013). There are a number of professional bodies which have made CPD mandatory. One of such institutes is The Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators. They have mandated CPD through the bylaws covered under section 4.1 and 4.2 (CICBV, 2016). The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia have also mandated CPD and expect the midwives and nurses to take the accountability and responsibility in their participations in order to declare their practices as competent, current and safe (James Francis, 2011). The Pharmacy Guide of Australia has also mandated CPD due to its different advantages (Fisher, 2015). Again, for the nurses of Australia, CPD has been made mandatory (Ross, Barr Stevens, 2013). Even in the quantity surveying profession in South Africa, CPD is mandatory; and this is also done in Australia by AIQS (Cruywagen, 2007; AIQS, 2012). Where the CPD is mandated for the NZIQS, it would make certain that the quality and skill set of the quantity surveyors is enhanced. However, in this context, it can be claimed that the code of conduct given by the NZIQS and the Conditions of Engagement given by the NZIQS are enough measure to keep the knowledge and skill base of quantity surveyors. It can also be claimed that indulging in separate mandatory CPD is a waste of time and other resources. The training and development aspect under CPD is particularly costly, and there is a lack of direct link between performance improvements and CPD. Though, the chances of such claims being successful are highly unlikely. Even though CPD has not been mandated by NZIQS as of now and there is a debate since last number of years in this context, there is a need for adopting the CPD as a mandatory exercise, as it would allow for the quantity surveyors to keep themselves updated regarding their profession. This would in turn help them in provi ding their services with excellence, as through these trainings, they would stay updated on the varied problems which can be raised in their profession. All in all, to further improve the level of services and to work in interests of the different stakeholders, it is beneficial to mandate continuing professional development for all the members of NZIQS. It allows you the flexibility of using the interface, or simply using SQL commands directly. Lets take a closer look at how to use it! First navigate to your phpMyAdmin login page. Enter your username and password to access your database. Now that you have logged in, you will see a screen that has all of your databases basic information. From here there are several things you can do. Lets say you want to run a bit of SQL script. On the left hand side of the screen, there are some small buttons. The first button is a home button, then an exit button, and the third is a button that reads SQL. Click on this button. This should prompt a popup window. Now, if you wish to run your code you have two options. Option one is to type or paste in the SQL code directly. The second option is to choose the Import Files tab. From here you can import files full of SQL code. Often when you download software they will include files like this to help you install it. Another thing you can do in phpMyAdmin is browse your database. Click on the database name in the left hand column. It should expand to show you a list of tables within your database. You can then click on any of the tables it contains. There are several tabs of options on the top of the right page now. The first option is Browse. If you select browse, you can view all of the entries in that table of the database. You can edit, or delete entries from this area of phpMyAdmin. It is best not to change data here if you arent exactly sure what its doing. Only edit what you understand because once deleted it is irreversible. The next tab is the Structure tab. From this table you can view all of the fields within the database table. You can remove or edit the fields from this area too. You can also change the data types here. The third table is the SQL tab. This is similar to the pop up SQL window that we discussed earlier in this article. The difference is that when you access it from this tab, it already has some SQL pre-filled in the box pertaining to the table from which you accessed it. The forth tab is the Search tab. As its name implies this is used to search your database, or more particularly the table form which you accessed the tab. If you access the search feature from the main phpMyAdmin screen you can search all of the tables and entries for your entire database. This is a very useful feature, that could be completed using only SQL but for many programmers as well as non-programmers its nice to have the simple to use interface. The next tab is Insert which allows you to add information to your database. It is followed by the Import and Export buttons. As they imply they are used to import or export data from your database. The Export option is particularly useful, as it allows you to make a backup of your database from which you can restore if you ever have an issue. It is a good idea to backup data often! Students refers to the third and fourth year students of the College of Education; the ones who will simplify the realization and utilization of the University Thrust that was being translated by the Administrators and Faculty. Instruction refers as one of the University Thrust which is focused on the Curriculum and other learning opportunities involved; as the word itself defines, it is the programs of studies done. Extension refers also as one of the University Thrust which is concerned with the activities held outside the Institution; also refers to the community involvement and community service. Chapter II Review on Related Literature This chapter contains the summary of relevant concepts, ideas, and research findings as well as conceptual framework. Related Literature. Topics discussed include the following: Thrust as the driving force of an institution; Instruction and Extension as Thrust of an educational institution; Administration and Faculty’s role in the operation of Thrust in the Teachers Education Program. Thrust as the driving force of an institution Business, government, educational, and many other institutions run because of a driving force that enables to do. In an interview, Dr. Joel Genzon of Notre Dame of Cotabato, Inc. , said that â€Å"Thrust is a driving force that provides the meaning why an institution carries out a certain action or   work. This action or work is commonly known as the one that strengthens its foundation that enables an institution fulfill its Vision-Mission. † In an interview with Prof. Elsa C. Tamse, the Executive Assistant to the President of Notre Dame University, she defined Thrust as the direction and guide of the school for a particular school year that will help in the attainment of the vision of the school. It is anchored with the vision and mission of the school or university. This is being reviewed and changed to meet the particular vision the school wants to attain. It is also in the Thrust that the strategies are crafted so that the mission will operate to achieve the school’s vision for the year. Instruction Instruction is defined by Saylor and his colleagues as â€Å"the actual engagements of learners with planned learning opportunities; thus, instruction can be thought as the implementation of the curriculum plan (Aquino, 1986). The program of studies required and implemented by the university should have well defined and clearly stated objectives and learning outcomes and should meet prescribed standards. The teaching and learning process used in instruction should be appropriate, varied, and should facilitate the wholistic development of the students. The process should reflect to the institutions’ teaching learning framework. Learning should be available inside and outside the classroom. Variety of teaching-learning strategies should be used. For an effective instruction the teaching-learning environment should be conducive. It should be well-equipped and can offer comfort and can accommodate a number of students per session. The learning outcomes of the academic program should be well-defined. Instructional supervision program should exist that includes practical measures: requirement of syllabi, informal dialogues with students and faculty, class visitations, and evaluation of text examinations. Faculty should encourage students to join activities such seminars and educational associations that would help them in developing their instruction. Students should be oriented on the availability of academic guidance and counseling. This is for them to be guided by their instructors if there are some difficulties they are encountering with the delivery of instruction by their teachers (PAASCU). Extension One of the important functions of a higher education institution is to have an Extension program. Vis-a-vis instruction and in light of recent technology advancement, extension complements and fills in the gaps left by instruction especially for those who, for multifarious reasons, cannot access formal instruction to gain individual information (Wakat, 2010). The university being storage, generator, and disseminator of knowledge, should make an impact on the community within its reach. Although its graduates will naturally be involved in the development of the community where they work and live, there are a lot more people who were not able to have formal university training, and the need outside help to make them productive members of the community. It is in this light that the university has the Community Involvement. This acts as the university’s arm in directly reaching out to the people in the community who need help – technical, financial and moral- to improve their living conditions. This mandate is carried out by means of programs like: training and non-formal education. This is done through non-degree training programs, extending financial assistance, if possible. Through Extension the university shall contribute to the development of empowered citizenry capable of making the rational decisions pertaining to the improvement of their livelihood, work productively and efficiently, and be confident part of the mainstream society in their community. Generally, Extension service is the process by which technology and innovation are transferred to an identified clientele with ultimate objective of improving the way of life of the people. Then Senate President Marcelo B. Fernan defined extension service as a concept that encompasses people empowerment and human resource development geared towards human capital enhancement, and technology and facilities diffusion among the â€Å"masang† Pilipino, if not, the poorest of the poor. (www. mseuf. edu. ph, 2012) Community involvement should be one of the basic aspects of the University. This is accurate and true, most especially in a progressing country like the Philippines, where community involvement may be matched to the total effort whereby the university relates itself to national, regional and local imperatives of development. The university, in educating citizenship, should implement not just through academic and professional programs through the pursuit of the fundamental objective of total human formation. It should also include a necessary social aspect. In so applying, it should maintain the focus on the academic, the professional and the personal development. A university that is exposed to community involvement actually enhances pride, dignity, and integrity, extends its identity and achieves greater and larger goal. In the attainment of this goal, such services will take place in the community through programs conducted in the expansion of the university. The community involvement of the university must consist not only about building community awareness and producing graduates in the professions or vocations where they can serve their communities competently and they may achieve personal upliftment. It must also include guiding and motivating students, faculty and staff towards community service and give them chance to be exposed to the community and actual service and to make them more sensitive to extension as an integral part of instruction and research; to establish the structure that will ensure coordination, communication, planning, linkages and monitoring of extension programs; To establish necessary infrastructure to sustain the extension program of the University; to integrate extension into both curricular and co-curricular activities; to formulate clear-cut policies on extension among the various sectors/colleges in the University: and to strengthen coordination and cooperation between and among sectors. The university’s commitment to community service and development should be carried out through projects and activities, which are well planned, organized, implemented, evaluated and supported by the school (PAASCU). Community involvement is an institutional community extension program whose commitment is towards community service and development. It works hard to the conscientization of men and women, equitable distribution of benefits and provision of equal access to opportunities through the optimal use of resources and human expertise in organized cooperative effort. It achieves such through giving of technical assistance in the form of functional education, community organizing, health programs, cooperative formation, capability building, women in development, income generating project and technical assistance. The role of Administrators and Faculty in the operation of Thrust in the Teachers Education Program Administration The Administration of a certain institution plays a very important and has specific roles. It undertakes to be accountable to be efficient and effective when it comes in managing and facilitating the institution especially in administering the instruction and extension as the two of the University Thrust, to its constituents. For an administration shall: * Develop and maintain a school atmosphere conducive to the promotion and preservation of academic freedom and effective teaching and learning to harmonious and progressive school-personnel relationship; * Assume and maintain professional behavior in his work and in his dealings with students, teachers, academic non-teaching personnel and administrative staff; * Render adequate report to teachers, academic non-teaching personnel, and non-academic staff on their actual performance in relation to their expected performance and counsel them on ways to improve the same; * Understand the curriculum and instructional processes of the institution (Aquino, 1986); * And conduct public services where it can be the training ground for young men and women to develop leadership qualities, civic involvement, community participation, training in management and other non- academic areas (Franco, 1994). The following are stated as the expected roles and responsibilities that the Administration should execute in order to pertain and deliver ‘what is due to them’. Litchfield (1956) has identified three broad, functional areas of administration: (1) policy, (2) resources, and (3) execution. These functional areas are applicable to the three fields of administration, including educational administration. A policy is defined as a statement of those objectives that guide the actions of a substantial portion of the total organization. The resources of administration are composed of people, money authority, and materials. Execution is a function of integration and synthesis of resources and policies that are intended to achieve a purposeful organization (Aquino, 1986). Faculty The roles and responsibilities of a faculty member are closely confined to the main functions of higher education. Their roles as an individual supports to the vision-mission of the University. Faculty members, however have similarities on their responsibilities to commit themselves fully to their teaching obligations, to participate in the development of the programs imparted by the institution as a whole, to engage scholarly activities, and as appropriate to support the University in its goal to render public services. One aboriginal formal description of these functions was pertained in the 1915 â€Å"Declaration of Principles† produced by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). According to the declaration, the colleges’ and universities’ functions are â€Å"to promote inquiry and advance the sum of human knowledge, to provide general instructions to the students, and to develop experts for various branches of the public service† (Joughin, pp. 163-164) cited by Aquino, 1986. A faculty member shall also play the role of facilitating and processing of influencing their students towards setting and achieving goals. They should help the group to decide on its goal, able to tolerate uncertainty without anxiety or angry, reconciles conflicts and turns confusion into order, exhibits good judgment and conviction, able to create a climate for creativity and innovation and emphasizes productivity and promotes the growth of students. Theoretical Consideration Social psychologist Douglas McGregor of MIT expounded two contrasting theories on human motivation and management in the 1960s: The X Theory and the Y Theory. (Theory X and Theory Y- Leadership Training from MindTools. com, 2013) The Theory Y behavioral pattern states that: * Employees under this pattern believe that expenditure of physical and mental effort in work is natural as play or rest. * Workers will exercise self-direction and self control in the service of attaining goals and objectives. * They believe that rewards are associated with individual achievements and contribution to group goals. * The average human being learns under proper condition. They seek responsibility to grow and develop as responsible person. The work groups have different values that influence the managerial pattern of leadership. A work group that value independence and unilateral decision making can influence the managers style to be one involvement and participation. On the other hand, the manager should adjust his style when the employee displays an opposite value. The Manager, therefore, must know when to ring the bell to change his course of action. (Pereda, 2011) On our study which focuses on the Notre Dame University Thrust as seen in the teacher education program of the College of Education, the Theory Y Behavioral Pattern visualizes the pattern in which the board of administration processes the crafting and developing of the strategic plans and they have the capability and talents to increase production and develop better services by means of making a direction to reach a particular vision the school wants to attain for a particular school year. This will be translated among the lower sectors/department heads (colleges) that will translate it among the students to see the effectiveness of the developed thrust if it supported the mission in attaining the vision of the school. Chapter III METHODOLOGY This chapter contains research design, respondents, research instruments, sampling design, and data gathering procedure. Research Design The researcher employs the descriptive research design. It describes the perceived effectiveness of the Notre Dame University Thrust, especially in the field of Instruction and Extension, as operated in the College of Education; profile of the College of Education Third and Fourth Year students; and programs and activities being conducted in the College anchored in the University Thrust. Respondents There are 105 third year students, composed of 17 males and 88 females, and 91 fourth year students, composed of 27 males and 64 females who are the respondents of the study with the total number of 196 students. The respondents came from the Notre Dame University College of Education, enrolled during the School Year 2012- 2013. Research Instrument The researchers will use a Key Informant Interview questionnaire and a survey questionnaire instruments in order to gather the data needed in the study. The Key Informant Interview is conducted to the Notre Dame University College of Education Dean and Program Head. The interview is composed of questions that intend to get further information about the programs and activities that the College is conducting. The information is compared to the result of the survey to see if it will coincide with each other making the result of the study reliable. The survey questionnaire will cover two (2) parts: Part I, it’s the profile of the students, specifically the name, gender, and age; Part II are the questions regarding the programs and activities operating in the College of Education that are anchored from the Notre Dame University Thrust (Instruction and Extension). Sampling Design Using the census method, the data will be collected from every member of the total population of the respondents. The respondents will be identified by getting the whole number of population of the Third and Fourth Year students enrolled in the College of Education during the Second Semester of the School Year 2012-2013. Data Gathering Procedure. The activities to be undertaken in the process of gathering relevant data which the study requires: The instruments ready, researchers’ sent letters of permission to the Dean of the College of Education to administer the survey questionnaire. George Orwells Nineteen Eighty-Four 1984 :: Free Essays on 1984

In his novel, â€Å"1984,† George Orwell warns us against three things. He stated that people are only out for personal gain, and will use any means to reach their goals. He also warned against these types of people who are already in power. And lastly, he warns us against the lost of privacy through constant surveillance, and how we actually allow this to happen.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  If we all have the traits to become evil, why does it become a reality only in some? Before this question can be answered, we must first ask what evil actually is. Evil is â€Å"an intent to cause emotional trauma, to terrorize the helpless, to prolong suffering, and gain satisfaction from it all.† Someone is considered evil if they willingly and gratuitously inflict harm on others. These people cannot empathize, they revel in others pain, they dehumanize their victims, they are narcissistic, and grandiose (they play God).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  People are not just born evil. There are certain factors that contribute to this type of outcome in a person. There is a usually history of abuse or neglect. They felt unloved, or even unworthy of love. There is also the possibility of there being a chemical imbalance, causing abnormal brain functions, thus, making someone incapable of certain human emotions such as empathy, compassion, or pity. Other things that can cause someone to ‘snap’ could be sexual inadequacy, maternal smothering, paternal abuse, and narcissistic borderline personality disorder (a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  They tend to have a way to justify their actions. They will use an ideology, or beliefs that what they are doing is what is morally correct, and therefore have every right to commit the acts that they do. Take Reverend Arthur Allen for example. His church, the House of Prayer, has a firm belief in corporal punishment. After a young boy complained to his teacher that he was in pain, and the teacher found welts on his body, the police and county officials began to investigate the church. However, even when the investigation was going on, the parents of the children in the congregation would not agree to stop the punishments for just two days. The children were taken away and the pastor and five of his followers were arrested on charges that they participated in the beatings of these children. This is also not a first time offense of them.

Stream Loads and Erosion

Streams or rivers are bodies of water that constantly travel from its source, which is usually a mountain or an underground source, towards an exit point into the sea. These bodies of water carry different kinds of materials. There are three kinds of loads that streams carry: Dissolved, Suspended, and Bed Loads. Dissolved Loads appear invisible because they compose of the smallest particles. These are transported by the stream in the form of chemical ions.Dissolved Loads can result from alteration of minerals from chemical erosion. It may also be a result of groundwater seepage into the stream. Suspended Loads are materials left dangling in the stream since they are too big to dissolve yet too small to sink to the stream bed. The flow of the stream keeps these particles suspended. Suspended Loads are usually the result of materials eroded by hydraulic action and erosion from the channel itself.Bed Loads are the biggest materials that can be found lying at the bottom of the stream. Du e to stream flow, Bed Loads are gradually transported in two ways: Traction (scooting and rolling) and Saltation (bounce-like movement). The transportation of Dissolved Loads are least affected by changes in stream velocity. As they are the smallest particles that can be found in streams, they will still be transported even under low stream flow since they are not big enough to settle down.Bigger loads are harder to transport hence requiring greater stream velocity. Bed Loads are the main contributors to stream erosions. Since they are the biggest among the three loads, they are able to dislodge materials from the stream bed when they are transported through Traction and Saltation. They can also hit the walls of the stream as they move. Bed Loads also erode the channel through the process of abrasion as they scoot and roll around the stream bed when they are transported.

Learning’s in OJT Essay

All HRM Students have their OJT’s in different restaurants, we were assigned in Stad. We started on April 27, 2012. I together with Rhems Tugas, Andrea Sagmit, Kaydee Gracia, Jerica Sarondo. We were oriented but in the middle of last April. I started the OJT in Stad is quite enjoying but the staff are so funny because they elaborated some menu to teach us how to cook it. And we do it well; I was surprised on the proper ways of how to communicate to customers with smile. The things that I’m doing in Stad we have to greet the customer well and we said in the kitchen staff, they do it and ready to serve. Suppose the guest done we gave the receipt to the cashier have known how much the bill. And then chance to interact closely with new co-workers and get practical advice about doing the job. Many times, the person who will be doing the training and evaluation is the new worker’s supervisor or manager, so this also establishes job expectations from the very beginning. My experience in Stad Restaurant as a Dine In really served as one of the most unforgettable experiences because I learned how to handle difficult situations and able to resolve it the way I knew how by practical application of common sense remembering the principles and theories I learned during my formal training in school. Personal experience shared by my mentors handling dissatisfied customers during my formal educational training helped me a lot during those hard times of my OJT. Indeed it is true that people are hard to please. Different guests have various need levels and definitions. Sometimes hard work does not guarantee customer satisfaction. Part of my unforgettable and challenging experience was when one of the guests complained that was unable to top up the coffee box and stock up towels in the room. The first order reacting to the situation was to listen to what the guest was saying, understanding that whatever and everything he uttered because he was unhappy on such given situation. After everything has been, an apology extended with an assurance and attention shall be looked into to all of his needs. The brief awful encounter which almost put me in tears, feeling alone in country,being scolded by a stranger,the hard wrk in between unavoidable skipping meals just to finish the tasks given to me.
